FAQs
Your Program
How long is a programme?
CODED programmes operate on specific, fixed schedules depending on the destination: Orlando programmes run for a total of 10 days, while Europe (London) programmes last for 12 days to 14 days.
Who teaches the students?
Classes and lab workshops are delivered by specialized STEAM educators, engineers, and mentors with industry and academic credentials, supplemented by interactive sessions with guest professionals from relevant tech sectors.
Who looks after the students?
Students are guided by dedicated CODED staff maintaining strict, low student-to-mentor ratios around the clock. The team coordinates all daily logistics, campus oversight, and transfers.
How do I book a place?
Families complete the online registration form, select their cohort and destination, and submit the initial enrollment fee via our secure payment portal (via card on Stripe, scheduled installment plans, or extended financing options such as Klarna where available). Once confirmed, parents receive full access to their dashboard.
What is included in the fees?
Tuition covers the complete academic curriculum, official accommodations, designated meal plans, full activity admissions (tech hubs, space centers, partner venues), dedicated private group transportation, international emergency medical insurance, and the official completion certificate. International airfare is not included.
Can I change my course option?
All mandatory student records—including the Medical Form, T-shirt size, Release Form, and Pick-up Authorization—must be completed directly through the digital forms section of the CODED Parent Portal prior to departure.
Can I attend multiple programmes?
Yes. If you have purchased the Coded Flex Pass ($500 USD), you can change your course option, date, or location:
- Eligibility Window: You can request a change of course, location, or date (deferral) up to 30 days prior to departure. Changes must be applied to programs running within the same calendar year as your original booking.
- Within 29 Days of Departure: No changes or deferrals are permitted (0% value retention/refund).
- Adding the Pass: If not selected during initial enrollment, the Coded Flex Pass can be added up to 60 days before the original program’s start date.
If I need to cancel my booking, will I get my money back?
Yes, the refund amount depends on how far in advance you cancel. To provide greater peace of mind, we offer an optional coverage called the Coded Flex Pass ($500 USD), which expands your cancellation window and flexibility. Please note: the $500 USD Coded Flex pass fee is non-refundable under any circumstances.
With the Coded Flex Pass, your coverage includes:
- 60+ days before departure: 100% full refund of the program value.
- 30 to 59 days before departure: 100% tuition value retention via a Change of Location, Date, or Program Deferral (valid within the same calendar year; no cash refund).
- 0 to 29 days before departure: Non-refundable (0% refund, no deferrals permitted).
Adding the Pass: If not selected during initial enrollment, the Coded Flex Pass can be added up to 60 days prior to the original departure date.
Are students grouped by skill level, or are classes mixed-level?
Students are divided by age into two categories: Junior (younger students) and Senior (older students).
Within each category, classes are mixed-level. Our hands-on project model is designed to support beginners while offering multi-tiered challenges and mentorship that allow more experienced students to dive deeper and take on technical leadership.
Can I attend multiple programmes?
Yes. Students may enroll in consecutive or separate cohorts if scheduling permits, though each destination or session requires its own distinct registration and confirmation.
Will I receive a completion certificate?
Yes. Every student who completes the academic challenges and delivers their final project receives an official CODED completion certificate.
Accomodation
Will I have to share a room or facilities?
Accommodations are structured strictly by gender and shared among peers from the same delegation:
- Orlando: Resort hotel rooms (typically 2 to 4 students per room, up to 5 in larger suites) in queen beds/bunk beds/sofabeds.
- Europe (London): Traditional British university campus dormitories with individual beds and shared hall bathrooms.
Are boys and girls housed separately?
Yes, without exception. Student housing is strictly segregated by gender across all hotels, campus wings, and room allocations.
Are there laundry facilities on site?
Depending on the specific campus or hotel property, self-service coin/card laundry facilities are accessible for an additional fee.
How secure are the venues?
CODED utilizes secure campus facilities and vetted resort partners with controlled passcode access (London) and keypass (Orlando) and 24/7 on-site Coded staff support.
Finances & Spending Money
How much pocket money should be budgeted?
Because core tuition includes accommodations, major meals, entrance tickets, and transit, spending money is only needed for personal retail, souvenirs, and non-included meals (Orlando program only).
Accessing funds during travel
Yes, without exception. Student housing is strictly segregated by gender across all hotels, campus wings, and room allocatioStudents should carry an internationally accepted debit, credit, or preloaded travel card. It is recommended to have a backup card or secondary digital wallet setup to prevent issues if a card is misplaced or locked by a bank.
Recommended payment formats
Electronic payment cards (Visa, Mastercard, or mobile contactless payments) are preferred and far safer than carrying cash, as many modern transport hubs, amusement parks, and campus stores operate on entirely cashless systems.
Carrying cash on-site
Carrying large sums of cash is strongly discouraged. A modest reserve of local currency ($50–$100 in cash) for minor emergencies, combined with an active bank card, is the safest setup.
Arriving & Departing
When should I arrive for my programme?
Students must plan their travel to arrive strictly on the official Day 1 arrival window specified in their cohort dossier so they can be received by our ground staff and participate in opening orientations.
What happens on the first day?
Day 1 is dedicated to arrival check-ins, campus or hotel room check-in, unpacking, team assignments, and an essential welcome briefing outlining the weekly challenge, rules, and daily schedule.
How do I get to my college or hotel?
We take care of all student transportation upon arrival and departure. Whether students travel by plane or train, our team coordinates their transfers directly between the airport or train station and the host college or hotel.
Getting to the UK or US
Families can book their own flights, or we can coordinate their air travel for them. Simply reach out to your CODED representative, and our team will be happy to generate a personalized flight quote.
Meals
Are meals included in my programme fees?
Meal structures depend on the venue:
- Europe (London): All daily meals (breakfast, lunch, and dinner) are fully covered for the duration of the 12-day or 14-day program.
- Orlando: Almost all meals are included, with the exception of 2 lunches and 1 dinner during independent exploration periods inside partner theme parks.
Can CODED accommodate dietary requirements?
Coded asks families to provide dietary and allergy information in advance. Host venues can accommodate many common dietary requirements, although families with serious allergies or complex medical dietary needs should provide full details before arrival.
Visas & Insurance
Do I need a visa to travel to the UK or US?
Entry documentation depends on the student’s nationality. While families are entirely responsible for securing their own travel authorization (such as an ESTA, ETA, or visitor visa), CODED provides enrolled families with official acceptance letters to support their visa applications.
Does the program include any type of insurance?
Yes. Every enrolled student is covered under CODED’s international emergency medical policy for the full duration of the on-site program. However, families are strongly encouraged to secure supplemental coverage for personal electronics, luggage delays, and trip cancellations.
General Information
What kind of clothing should I bring?
Pack comfortable, weather-appropriate casual clothing suitable for classroom activities and daily lab work, as well as comfortable walking shoes for excursions. Clothing should be practical for an educational setting; we recommend avoiding ripped or torn garments and choosing shorts of an appropriate length. For the closing ceremony, students are required to bring a pair of plain black trousers. A program-specific packing checklist will be provided in the pre-arrival package.
Are parents allowed to visit?
To safeguard our students we ensure strict campus access compliance, and foster complete immersion in cohort dynamics, parent and family visits are not permitted during the program.
Should I bring a mobile phone?
Yes, having an active mobile device with international roaming or an eSIM is mandatory for personal check-ins and emergency contact. However, phones must be stored away during classroom sessions and group workshops unless authorized by staff.
What is the daily schedule like?
Daily timetables balance morning interactive theory and academic challenges with afternoon field applications, institutional site visits, evening group workshops, and supervised downtime.
Will students visit any highlighted places?
Yes. Immersive visits to premier innovation centers, space facilities, and cultural attractions (such as the Kennedy Space Center, Universal, or prominent London museums and landmarks) are central to the experiential curriculum.
What happens in the event of an emergency or illness?
CODED maintains around-the-clock welfare protocols. If an issue arises, staff immediately assist the student, contact the designated medical providers covered by our insurance policy, and notify parents right away.
What is CODED's institutional relationship with host venues?
CODED is an independent global educational institution. We contract directly with partner universities, scientific centers, and hotels for facility access, maintaining our own dedicated operational staff. Coded may engage tutors connected with those institutions, but it does not operate under the authority of any of our host venues.
